At the University of Chicago Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, we want students to have access to academic and cultural resources, but to also have opportunities independent of the classroom and student life. First Annual Student Diversity Leadership Conference

North Park University extends to you and your students a cordial invitation to attend the Student Diversity Leadership Conference to be held Friday, October 23, 2009 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Who Should Attend

  • First Year Students
  • Seminary students
  • Students from Christian Colleges and Universities in the Midwest
  • Students from Independent Colleges and Universities in the Midwest
  • All students who want to learn how to develop intercultural competence knowledge and skill

Topic: What does it mean to understand human differences?

The conference provides the opportunity for students to acquire and develop knowledge and skills needed to lead diverse campus organizations, and increase their competence in working with diverse individuals and groups. Students will learn how to use their knowledge and skills to be change agents on their campuses and in their communities.

Keynote Speaker - Dr. Brenda Salter-McNeil, Salter McNeil & Associates, LLC.

Dr. Salter-McNeil is a renowned speaker and author in the field of racial, ethnic and gender reconciliation. She has over 25 years of ministry experience and is the president and founder of Salter McNeil & Associates, a Christian company that partners with organizations to transform them into reconciling communities by producing inter-culturally competent leaders on college campuses, in churches and in organizations around the world. Dr. Salter McNeil earned her Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, a Doctorate of Ministry from formerly named Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (now Palmer Theological Seminary) and a Doctor of Humane Letters degree from North Park University, where she is a Scholar in Residence. She is the author of a book entitled, A Credible Witness: Reflections on Power, Evangelism and Race (IV Press 2008) and is also the coauthor of The Heart of Racial Justice: How Soul Change Leads to Social Change (IV Press, 2005). Through her speaking, teaching and writing, Dr. Brenda boldly declares a vision that unites, transforms and brings healing to people from every tribe and every nation.
