The Ruth Murray Prize of the Center for Gender Studies will be awarded for the best essay written by a University of Chicago undergraduate or graduate student in the area of women's studies, feminist criticism or gender studies.

Essays may be of any length, but should be no longer than 50 double-spaced pages (or they will not be considered.) Students may only submit one paper each. Papers may only be submitted in English, due to the fact that the committee cannot guarantee the faculty resources for reading other languages.
To enter the competition, a student should submit 3 copies of a printed manuscript to:

Chicago, Illinois 60637
Please include a cover sheet indicating the following: your email address, street address, student ID number, your university department, and whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student. The committee reserves the right to judge undergraduate and graduate essays separately and to split the prize.
No fax or email applications will be accepted.
