At the University of Chicago Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, we want students to have access to academic and cultural resources, but to also have opportunities independent of the classroom and student life. Thus, the following is a list of opportunities where students can go to search for funding, enrich their summers or find work after graduation.

Summer Internship Contest

In observance of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, the Cook County State's Attorney Office is holding an essay writing competition for college students and graduating high school seniors. 2 winners will be selected and the prizes are a summer internship and a $1,000 scholarship from State Farm Insurance.

The internship is full-time (40 hours/week) and lasts eight weeks. It is an internship with a flexible starting date, contingent upon the student’s availability and schedule. Interns can be placed at any of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office locations in Chicago or Cook County suburbs. Exact placement will be determined by availability and the selected intern’s interest.

The deadline for applications is Monday 29th March, 2010. The winners will be selected and notified by Friday 9th April and recognized at the State's Attorney's Asian pacific American Heritage Month reception in May.

Applicants Must:
Be a Senior in High School or a College Student
Be in good academic standing
Be at least 16 years of age by June 1, 2010.

Applicant or Applicant’s Parent(s) Must:
Be a Cook County resident. The internship is offered through the State’s Attorney’s Office of Cook County and o
nly Cook County residents are eligible.
