At the University of Chicago Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, we want students to have access to academic and cultural resources, but to also have opportunities independent of the classroom and student life. Thus, the following is a list of opportunities where students can go to search for funding, enrich their summers or find work after graduation.

Save the dates for the upcoming National Hispana Leadership Institute events

NHLI is inviting Latina artists nationwide to participate in our third annual Gala Poster Artwork Contest. Artists are invited to submit artwork in all media including paintings, sculptures, photography, etc., that celebrates Latinas/Hispanic women.

In addition to a cash prize, NHLI will credit the winning artist in promotional materials during and after the conference included but not limited to: 2011 Mujer Award poster, award certificates, program cover, bags, mouse pads, annual report, and NHLI note cards.   • Nominate a Latina Leader Today for a Mujer Award! - Deadline: April 19.
At the Mujer Awards Gala on November 4, NHLI will recognize the sustained lifetime achievements of Latinas through the Mujer Awards. NHLI friends, alumnae and community at large are invited to nominate leaders that embody the following values and philosophy outlined in the nomination form. In 2009, NHLI created the Rising Star Awards to recognize three Latina leaders under 30 for their accomplishments. Rising stars are Latinas who: have been touched by NHLI or NHLI alumnae. (i.e. participated in NHLI program, mentored by NHLI alumnae, volunteered for program or organization connected to NHLI), have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments and serve as exceptional role model to other young Latinas.   • Latina Empowerment Conference in Chicago, IL - May 6.
NHLI's second Latina Empowerment Conference will be held in Chicago, IL from 8 am to 4:30 pm. If you are in the region, don't forget to register and spread the word to other leaders like.
