At the University of Chicago Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, we want students to have access to academic and cultural resources, but to also have opportunities independent of the classroom and student life. Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders

Each year, the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute awards the Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders to outstanding high school seniors or college students who are committed to make a change for their community. The scholarships will be presented at the 30th USHLI National Conference in Chicago, February 16-19, 2012.

Students attending or accepted to an undergraduate four-year institution are eligible for a $1000 scholarship. Students attending or accepted to an undergraduate two-year institution are eligible for a $500 scholarship. In addition, recipients will receive a scholarship to attend the 30th USHLI National Conference.

To qualify, applicants must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student in a four-year institution in the U.S. or U.S. territories, and demonstrate a verifiable need for financial support. At least one parent must be of Hispanic ancestry. Recipients must be able to attend the USHLI National Conference. The number of scholarships awarded varies from year to year.

 The deadline to receive the complete application is December 31, 2011.
