At the University of Chicago Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, we want students to have access to academic and cultural resources, but to also have opportunities independent of the classroom and student life. Thus, the following is a list of opportunities where students can go to search for funding, enrich their summers or find work after graduation.

2010 Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC)

The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is proud to host the 2010 Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) March 31st-April 4th in Chicago, IL.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Health Impact 2010: Educate, Advocate, Empower” and the overall goal is to provide attendees with the tools needed to bring about a healthier and more equitable healthcare system.

The conference goals will be accomplished through academic preparedness, dissecting current issues and developing strategies. Premedical conference sessions include but are not limited to: Submitting a Perfect Application, Medicine in the Media and Post-baccalaureate: The Good, Bad and Ugly. You will also be offered the opportunity to tour several local medical schools, participate in a research poster session and a community service project.

In the past premedical students have shared how life-changing this experience has been. They were not only able to learn technical information about strengthening their applications but were able to personally share with thousands of medical students, admissions representatives and healthcare professionals.

For more information contact Zainab Raji at rajiz@uchicago.edu, or Ashley Scaffold at region2maps@snma.org or visit: www.snma.org. Regular registration ends February 15th.
