Available Work Study Positions at the Latinos Progresando

Name of Organization: Latinos Progresando

Organization Description: Latinos Progresando is a nonprofit, community-based organization in Chicago’s Little Village (South Lawndale). LP builds stronger, healthier immigrant communities through providing the highest-quality, low-cost legal immigration services, community arts and education, advocacy and organizing around the issues and policies that affect immigrants, and fostering civic engagement.

Jobs opportunities:-

1 - Database Development Manager

Work directly with both our IT person and database software provider to implement organizational data management and cataloging system. Work one-on-one with executive staff members to develop a sustainable data tracking system specific to the needs of the organization’s separate programs, which will also facilitate outcomes-based program evaluation. Immediate supervisor is Director of Development, and when working with her the student will certain gain valuable knowledge about nonprofit fundraising and public-sector development.

2 - Funds Development Associate

Work closely with the Development Director to assist in, support, and supplement her work. Responsibilities include maintaining master grants calendar, keeping track of corporate and foundation contacts, working individually with program staff and reporting on their work for development purposes, planning fund raisers and special events, arranging sponsorships, and drafting, editing, and writing letters of inquiry and parts of foundation, federal, state, and or corporate grant proposals. Student will be responsible for submitting progress reports to the organization’s funders and will have the opportunity to attend meetings with funders. Student will learn all about nonprofit fund raising and will gain experience in writing and researching grant proposals as well as creating organizational and project budgets.

3 - Online Marketing Manager

Work directly with both our IT person and database software provider to implement organizational data management and cataloging system. Work one-on-one with executive staff members to develop a sustainable data tracking system specific to the needs of the organization s separate programs, which will also facilitate outcomes-based program evaluation. Immediate supervisor is Director of Development, and when working with her the student will certain gain valuable knowledge about nonprofit fund raising and public-sector development. Organization will compensate for travel time.
