At the University of Chicago Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, we want students to have access to academic and cultural resources, but to also have opportunities independent of the classroom and student life. Thus, the following is a list of opportunities where students can go to search for funding, enrich their summers or find work after graduation.

CAPS Career Peer Advisor 2012-13

It’s that time of year again when CAPS selects highly engaged and outgoing rising 2nd – 3rd years to join the Career Peer Advising team to help build an excellent suite of career-related services to their fellow classmates. The CPA program has become an important extension of the office that has allowed us to reach students who have not made their way into Ida Noyes for one-on-one advising or for other related programs.

This year, the CPAs will have an increased presence in the office by way of providing front desk support, greeting and escorting employers and alumni, and assisting with evening programs. In addition, they will serve as an advisory board to CAPS and will meet with Meredith Daw on a quarterly basis to provide feedback regarding CAPS events and student sentiments. CPAs will, of course, continue offering walk-ins at Ex Libris in the Reg on Sundays – Thursdays from 8-10pm.

This is a great professional development opportunity for students who are interested in building leadership, peer education and advising skills. In addition, if you have students who are interested in counseling, psychology, education or higher education administration (particularly in HR or Career Services), this might be a great fit for those students.

Please feel free to refer any student you’d like to recommend directly to me – we’ll be hiring 12 CPAS – both returning and new applicants are welcome.

Application Information:

The deadline to apply on CCC (ID # 23166) is Friday, May 18th at 5pm.
